Easter Bunny Ears

Hello!

Realised I forgot to share my Easter nails on here - I did share on Instagram (it's so quick and easy!) but didn't have time to write a blog post as I was working all over Easter, boo!

Before Easter, I was in a rush to do my nails, so ended up applying Jadis (the polish I designed for Freckles Polish) again. I love polishes with holo or glitter, as it means you don't have to add any nail art and your nails can still look really pretty and unusual! Lots of people liked Jadis, and I was very proud to be wearing it :-)

When it got to the Easter weekend, I didn't really have time to do a full Easter design, although I'd fancied doing eggs or chicks or something. I eventually settled on doodling this bunny-ear design using my Barry M nail art pens which didn't take long and ended up looking quite cute!! I loved them!

Freckles Polish: More Swatches!

Hello!

As promised, I'm back with some more swatches previewing some of the polishes that will be released tomorrow to celebrate Freckles Polish's first birthday!

The first polish I have to show you is from the Collaboration Collection. This collection comprises of six polishes, three designed by nail bloggers and three by competition winners. Julieann (creator of Freckles Polish) sent me the polish designed by winner Olivia, and it's a stunner!

Olivia named her polish Coralicious, which I think describes it so well! It's a gorgeous vibrant pinky-coral shade packed full of tiny holo glitter. Here it is on my nails:

I think that this would be a gorgeous colour to wear during the summer and on holiday. It sparkles so prettily in the sun! This didn't dry competely smoothly because of all that lovely glitter. This could be solved with topcoat if you wished - no topcoat used in the above swatches though! Three coats of polish.

The next two polishes are from the Birthday Party Collection. This collection will comprise of more holographic polishes (there can never be too many!) that are all delicate, pretty shades that will be perfect for spring.

The first one is Strawberry Buttercream. This is a delicate pale purple with a subtle holo shimmer. It applies sooo smoothly and I was so impressed! As it's a pale colour I've used four coats for these swatches to make sure there was complete coverage for the photos, but you could probably get away with three. Alternatively you could layer this over a similar coloured base (like Prickly Pear by Barry M) and then just add one coat of this purple holo!

The second one is Party Dress. This is an absolute dream of a polish, and my favourite of these three. The colour is perfect - like a dusky deep pink. Ah I can't even describe it but it's beautiful. As above it applies so smoothly, and needed less coats than the one above as it's a bit more pigmented. The holo is more pronounced in this one too! I can see myself using this a lot. It's subtle enough for work but the holo sparkle makes it a bit special.

All in all, three stunning polishes. I especially recommend Party Dress, and of course Jadis that I designed (see previous post!). I'm looking forward to seeing more swatches of the rest of both of the collections.

Happy 1st Birthday Freckles Polish!

Freckles Polish: Jadis - designed by My Mint Nails!

Hello!

I've been excited about this for a while now, and I can finally post about it!

I was contacted a while back by Julieann who is the creator of Freckles Polish. She sells some gorgeous bottles of handmade polish, and my personal favourites are the holographic ones. I was thrilled when Julieann asked me, as part of the celebrations for the first anniversary of Freckles Polish, to design a polish myself!

I was so excited, and began to think of what I would like my polish to be. I do love white polishes with coloured glitter, but I have a lot like that already from other indie makers and I didn't want to just re-design that kind of thing. I wanted something unique! So I had a think about the colours I like.... pink, obviously, and also minty green. I thought that a minty-green holo would look so pretty, and it wasn't something I'd seen loads of before. I own a few pink holo polishes but no mint-coloured ones! To make it a bit more individual and tailored to me, I asked Julieann to add some pink glitter.

When I saw pics of the finished polish, I loved it. I loved it even more when it arrived through my door earlier this week, and got it on my nails immediately!

The hardest thing was actually thinking of a name for the polish that would do it justice. I've always thought that if I ever designed a polish collection, I would base it on The Chronicles of Narnia, as I love how magical those books are. At first I wanted to name my polish 'Caspian' after Prince Caspian from the stories, but then I thought that this made me think of a more vibrant shade. I finally decided to go with Jadis, which is the real name of The White Witch. The polish is lovely and frosty-looking, and I think the name goes well!

Here it is!!!!

My polish will be released as part of a Collaboration Collection on 28th March. The collection consists of three polishes designed by nail artists - myself, Anna from Anna Bean's Nails and Vicky from Vicky Loves Nails. There's also three more polishes that were designed by winners of a competition that Julieann ran!

On the same date, Julieann will also be releasing another polish collection called The Birthday Party Collection. I will have swatches of two of these to show you tomorrow, as well as swatches of one of the polishes designed by a competition winner, so do check back!

Thanks so much Julieann for letting me participate in your one-year celebrations, and here's to many more successful years filled with pretty polish! <3

Freckles Polish New Collection

Hello!

Today I've got a special post to share - I have two new polishes from Freckles Polish to give you a sneak preview of. Both of these polishes are from a new collection to be released on August 1st, and the collection is called "A Typical British Summer" - very clever! Freckles Polish is an Indie polish brand, meaning all these polishes are hand-made.

The first polish I have to share is called Wellies Or Flip flops? which to be honest is the dilemma I've been facing for the past week - what do you wear on your feet when it's forecast to be very hot, with thunderstorms?!
This polish is a lovely bright blue shade with a scattering of different sized purple glitter, with the fab addition of some butterflies!
In these swatches I applied three coats with no base coat. I had to do a little fishing to catch those butterflies and place them on my nails, but this is normal with big glitter pieces. The smaller glitters came out very generously!

I loved this shade of blue, and the butterflies! I think next time I use it though I will use a similar blue as a base coat, then just use one coat of this polish, as some of the glitters/butterflies in the first coat got all covered up as I added more coats!

The second polish I have to show you is an absolute beauty and I love it! It's called Strawberries and Cream (yum!) and is a pale milky-pink base with tiny red glitter (squares and circles) medium red hexes and big red circles. There's also a scattering of tiny blue "lines" that really make this polish unique. I'm not usually a fan of this "line/bar" glitter, but in this polish  it just seems perfect, and there's just the right amount.

Here's the pictures, look at those amazing big red circle glitters! Looooooove

I love pale pink polishes with a funky mix of glitter, so this one is absolutely perfect for me!

If you want a nosy at the other new polishes that are going to be released as part of this collection, check out Freckles Polish Facebook page, and also follow them on Instagram and Twitter for more sneak-peeks and updates.

The collection will be released on the 1st of August and you will be able to purchase them here on Etsy. Also, check out the polishes already for sale in the Freckles Polish store, they're so pretty, especially the holographic ones!

Freckles Polish - Gypsy Lucky Heather

Hello!

Showing off another of my purchases from Freckles Polish today. This one is called Gypsy Lucky Heather which I think is a great name, and it's the one I knew I definitely wanted when I saw which polishes had been released. This is a lilac base with different sized glitter in red, blue and purple and big silver circles. So unique!

With the previous Freckles Polish I tried, I layered one coat over a similar shade. This time I thought I'd try just using two coats of the polish with no base. I also added a matte topcoat in these pics (forgot to take a pic of it shiny, argh!)

I still love this polish, especially the purple colour, it's gorgeous and I got some nice comments about it at work! I think if I wore it again though, I'd go back to my method of applying just one coat over a similar base shade - the purple is sooo opaque (which I like!) that a second coat completely covered up the glitters in the first coat and ended up looking a bit thick/gritty in places. I think I'd actually like this polish even more without the big circles - but that's just my personal view, and I do love big circle glitters, I just think they got a bit concealed in this polish. I loooooved the shade of purple next to the red, blue and purple little glitters though. Stunning!!

Freckles Polish - Just As You Are

Hello! Today I have a pretty polish to show you from new UK Indie brand, Freckles Polish. When I first began to see pics of swatches of the polishes that were going to be released, I liked them immediately! I resisted getting any as I already have way too many polishes, but when I saw that Julieann (who runs Freckles Polish) was going to be selling mini bottles for £3.50, I convinced myself I needed to buy some!

I picked three, this one here which is called Just As You Are, and also a blue and a purple both with glitter. I'll be showing them off soon! Just As You are is a lovely grey base, with lots of different sized glitter and hearts in both pink and silver/grey. Such a pretty mixture!

I applied one coat of this over a base of grey polish in a similar colour (Dorien Grey by Sally Hansen). I'm not sure I needed the base shade as this is quite opaque, but I really hate being able to see my nails through any polish so went with the grey base just to be sure! I finished off with a topcoat of Gelous. Here's some pics!

I wore it like this last night and all today, but managed to scuff them at work, so I added a matte topcoat to smooth them out again but to add a different finish. I don't usually go for matte topcoat over glitter, but I think this actually looks really good!

The polish applied beautifully, and all of Julieann's polishes are stunning - really pretty, interesting colour/glitter combos. Check out her Etsy shop here!
