Nude Lace Tips

Quick updated manicure for today. My Models Own hypergel (Naked Glow) was lasting really well, even after two days at work. One of my tartan accent nails had got a bit chipped so I decided to remove these two, and just paint them with Naked Glow. I then doodled on some lace-look tips on all my nails with my white Barry M nail art pen. A nice, subtle look for work!

I was hoping for some nail mail today but none came - hopefully tomorrow I will have some new pretties to show off!

Lace LOVE

Hello!

Here are some more Valentine's nails! I've seen some fab nails from other bloggers, and the ones I've liked the most have been these by Pause for Polish. So artistic! Also, Nailasaurus posted some valentine's nail art ideas, and I really liked the ones with the 'LOVE' lettering. So I knew I wanted to spell out the word on my nails, but didn't want to directly copy either of these, or various others I've seen. I don't think I'd have been able to do anything as nice or intricate as Pause for Polish, so I got thinking about other styles of writing and nail art in general, and decided to go for lace-print-style writing.

For a base I used three of my Ciate minis, which all happen to have valentines-themed names - L-R, Boudoir, Play Date and Kiss Chase. I painted my nails in Kiss Chase, then randomly swiped the other colours on. Not sure that it looked very good, more messy, but it didn't matter very much as I was going to add the lettering over the top, which I did with my Barry M nail art pen. I finished off with a shiny topcoat to seal in the pen and finish off the look!

BFF Friday - Lace Nailart

Hello! Slightly different post today. This is the first of a series (we hope!) of collab posts between myself and Naileymabob. We decided that it'd be fun to do some joint posts on the same theme. For today, we picked one polish we both had, which was Cerise Shine hypergel by Models Own. We both got this polish delivered this week from the Models Own sale, and both wanted to try it out! We decided that over the top we'd add lace print. We didn't discuss how/what we wanted the full mani to look like other than these details, because we wanted to see what each other would come up with!

I started with a base of the pink, which I posted swatches of a few days ago here. I then doodled on a lace design at the base of each nail, using the Barry M nail art pens. My inspiration was this manicure by Lucy of Lucy's Stash, which I actually came across when googling for something else ages ago, and saved it as it was so pretty. I tried to alter it a bit so it wasn't completely copied, but I do like having a design to follow when I'm doing something intricate like lace print.

Here is my manicure!

I definitely want to try this design again and try to do it neater. And maybe I could try it at the top of my nails, rather than at the bottom. I love lace-print!

Here's a link to Naileymabob's version of pink lace print! Go and look, it's stunning <3

Kiko Lace Print

Hello!

While shopping in Westfield Stratford in London over the weekend, I popped into the KIKO shop. I'd heard about this brand of cosmetics through other blogs, so I popped in to see what colours they had and what the prices were. I really didn't mean to buy any - I didn't need any new colours and had just bought a new Maybelline polish from Boots, so my polish-buying-need had been satisfied. But as soon as I saw the polishes were only £3.90, and then spotted this beauty - well - I had to have it.

It doesn't have a name on it, just a number: 346. After a quick google it seems this polish is called Olive Drab. It's a beautiful, dull kind of teal/khaki....so pretty.

This polish applies BEAUTIFULLY! It's so creamy and smooth and shiny, it looked beautiful with just one coat! I did do two coats just out of habit and to make it look even richer, and just - wow! It's beautiful. I need many, many more KIKO's now!!! I have added a topcoat in this pic, but not to make it more shiny, just to protect it. I've had this polish on for three days now and it's remained perfect.

Today I had some spare time at work (whilst announcing trains) and decided to doodle over the top with my Barry M pen. For inspiration I used this fab manicure by AJ over at Nail Lacquer UK. I was at work so couldn't watch the video but I had a look at her pics and picked one of the patterns to try. Cos my nails were so shiny and slippy, the pen didn't work as well as usual, but this actually worked out quite well - the spidery lines worked well for lace print!

Lace-print freehand

I created these lace-print nails over the top of the gelly gradient I did yesterday. I followed a tutorial by the very skilled Megan which you can find here. I never thought I'd be able to do an intricate design like this, but Megan has broken it down really well. I think they look fab, but my boyfriend says they look christmassy! What do you all think? X
